For scuba diving in spain:
At this point we would like to explain some things ,which we are asked very often and which cause a lot of uncertainly and trouble.
Certification
A dive certification on entry level of aworldwide aceptet organisation like PADI OWD,CMAS*, or BSAC*.
Medical
This is one thing we hear daily from our divers. It`s already required by spanish law and it`s not up to us to change the law, because primary it is your safety! The dive insurances will not paying if you don`t follow the local laws! The medical has to be valid, means not older than 2 years when younger than 40,1 year when older. You can get it here from our doctors.
Legal or ilegal
General, even when you choice another dive center make shure they work in a legal matter!
Some question you may ask for:
Licence of the dive center? Apuertura
Proof of the insurances of the divecenter or intructors?
Valid certification of the instructor?
Working contracts?
Member /owner of the decompression chamber?
Do they have an own boat(required by law no rental contracts are allowed),and if is it registered on list 6 ,list 7 is ilegal for professional use!
Ask the Staff for the medical?
Is the stuff in a good condition?
Ask for CE certifications for Compressor or if they have an idustrial proyect for the center or compressor?
Access to a decompression chamber
Another strange thing here is that infact we have a privat runned decompression chamber in jandia,a lot of divecenters count it on there advertising or homepages wihout having acontract with the chamber! They didn`have the emergency plans and numbers,so when having an accident just call 112 and waiting what happens. The Owners and members thinking that is extrmly unsocial or more. It`s up to you to support the legal divecenters!
